Choosing the right plant pots and planters to show off your plants

When spring comes around I can't wait to get back out into the garden and absorb some much needed vitamin D after the long drawn out winter months. Cleaning up the borders becomes a pleasure rather than a chore, and planting up the pots and planters with the anticipation of what's to come is such a joy. Plant pots come in all shapes and sizes from vintage style terracotta pots with their old fashioned charm and natural look to modern brutalist concrete planters. Our terracotta plant pots have a wonderful vintage character and classic design, plants always look striking in natural terracotta pots, the pots are uniquely aged to provide a beautiful rustic look, some have natural mosses so each piece is slightly different which adds to the character and authentic aged look on the terracotta pots. The terracotta is made in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way without the need for any toxic chemicals.
For a more modern aesthetic the most urban of our planter collections, the Brockwell planter reminds us of Brutalist architecture with its simple block shape and cement finish. Each of the four sizes are not only weatherproof but frost and heat resistant too (so even if plants don’t survive the winter, the planters will!). Their minimal design means they can be potted with neutral or colourful plants to suit any outdoor space.
The 1970's, for me as a Generation X member brings back wonderful memories mixed with some slightly dodgy interior and garden design, think orange and brown animal print carpets! I am delighted to see the 1970's back in style though, our 70's mugs and cups from HKliving are so popular and offer the feel of the 70's with a slightly more subdued look. The retro look is making a comeback with plants too and you see so many Yucca's, Rubber plants and Spider plants in interiors now and available in DIY stores now. Choosing the right plant pots to create that retro look is as important as the plant. I love these new shiny deep brown Retro Pots from House Doctor, they can be used indoors our outside.
